Blunt's Show Me Solutions Highlights Versailles Effort to Prepare Students for School
Gov. Matt Blunt visited Morgan County Elementary School today as part of his Show-Me Solutions initiative to recognize Missourians' generosity. The governor thanked the Morgan County Caring for Kids Coalition for working to ensure area students are prepared for back to school.
"Education is the most important investment we make as a state," Blunt said. "Our students are eager to learn, but they also must be ready to learn. I applaud the spirit of generosity that makes the back to school fair a success. The generosity of Missourians is boundless, and it is exciting to see firsthand how Missourians are going out of their way to help students and their neighbors."
The Morgan County Caring for Kids Coalition, Back to School Health Fair held on Saturday, August 4th, helped area students prepare for the new school year. At the fair students in grades K-12 received free health screenings, haircuts and the essential supplies needed for the school year. More than 350 students participated in the annual back to school event. The back to school fair is made possible because of the generosity of area citizens and businesses.
The governor's Show-Me Solutions initiative is designed to increase awareness about the countless organizations throughout the state that provide assistance to meet community and individual needs. For information about the governor's initiative, visit www.showmesolutions.mo.gov.
