Marygrove
Gov. Matt Blunt visited Marygrove to highlight the charitable work of the organization.
Marygrove is a residential treatment center for children who are suffering from emotional disturbances, behavioral disorders, neurological problems and mental illness because of abuse and neglect. The center offers group therapy, individual therapy, special small groups and the Promoting Achievement through Learning and Support (PALS) mentoring program.
"We have few greater responsibilities than to protect and improve the lives of our children. I am grateful to the staff, volunteers and supporters of Marygrove for their work and dedication to help children move beyond the past, towards a future of success and hope," Blunt said. "Marygrove is one of countless examples of charitable organizations and generous individual and business partners working together to assist their communities and neighbors."
Marygrove relies on the generosity of private donations in their efforts to upgrade their facilities where the children and young adults live, work and play. The center also receives government reimbursement to help cover a portion of the cost of care for each child in the residential care program. Blunt has proposed a $2.9 million funding increase for residential treatment programs like those at Marygrove in his Fiscal Year 2007 budget.
