Kids' Harbor
OSAGE BEACH - As part of his Show-Me Solutions initiative, Gov. Matt Blunt today visited Kids' Harbor to recognize the organization's work protecting Missouri children from child abuse.
"I created Show-Me Solutions to highlight worthy causes and organizations. Across the state, Missourians have seen many and varied needs in their communities, and Missourians have reached out to meet those needs with compassion, ingenuity and generosity," Gov. Blunt said. "Kids' Harbor is a shining example of Missourians working together to protect our children and make our state an even better place to call home."
The mission of Kids' Harbor is to provide Missouri infants, children and teens in Camden, Dent, Hickory, Laclede, Maries, Miller, Morgan, Phelps, Pulaski, and Texas Counties with a safe and secure shelter during investigations of neglect, sexual, physical or emotional abuse. Representatives from Kids' Harbor coordinate their efforts to protect children with prosecuting attorneys, physicians, nurse practitioners, and therapists from a single location. The organization is dependent on the generosity and support of the community they serve.
The governor's Show-Me Solutions initiative is designed to increase awareness about the countless organizations throughout the state that provide assistance to meet community and individual needs. For information about the governor's initiative, visit www.showmesolutions.mo.gov.
